Carl Mucken was hired by Queen of Peace in 2011. He has been teaching since 2000 in the Salem area. He did his undergraduate work at Linfield College and later earned a masters in Early Childhood through Western Oregon University. He has taught all grade levels except Pre-K and Kindergarten. Mr. Mucken loves to garden and spend time with his family.
Karon graduated from CSU with a bachelor degree in finance and real estate. Her professional career included working as a real estate agent, a bank examiner for the OCC and as a CRA Officer for First Interstate Bank. Karon has worked in various roles in the school over the past 12 years and is currently the Administrative Assistant in the front office.
Father Tim Mockaitis
Fr. Tim Mockaitis hails from Chicago where he was born and raised. His Catholic school education and active participation in parish life by his parents and siblings led him to consider the priesthood. After about 5 years in priestly formation with the Vincentians, a year of Novitiate in Santa Barbara, CA and one year in Seminary College, he decided to pursue the Diocesan priesthood and seek to serve primarily in parish life. In 1972, he came to Oregon and entered Mt. Angel Seminary until his ordination in August 1978. After 12 years of service in the Diocese of Baker, Oregon he transferred to the Archdiocese of Portland and has served there in various parishes since 1990. In 1989 he earned a Master of Science Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola University in Baltimore. He came to Queen of Peace Parish in July of 2006 where he continues to serve.
Meredith Hildebrandt was hired at Queen of Peace school in 2009. She has worked in Early Childhood Education, Kindergarten, and First Grade for over 16 years, both as a head teacher and as a teaching assistant. She firmly believes that a successful Pre-K experience contributes greatly to a successful school career. Ms. H loves to spend time with her son Markus, and likes going to the beach and hiking.
Bethany Ayres was hired by Queen of Peace in 2012 as the part-time Artist in Residence as well as the Queenship director. The following year she was hired as the part-time art teacher. For the 2014-2015 school year, she was hired full-time to teach Kindergarten. She has taught in both public and private schools since 1998, in grades Pre-K through sixth. Bethany earned her bachelor of science in elementary education at Western Oregon University. Ms. Ayres loves to spend time with her 3 boys and family, and enjoys going to the beach, camping, and hiking.

Pam McHugh graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelors in elementary education. She worked in the Head Start program and as a Title I instructor before coming to Queen of Peace in 1979. She has been here ever since, teaching 1st grade. Pam is an avid Duck fan and loves camping every summer with her family.

Lisa Hager joined the Queen of Peace teaching staff in 2016. She has Bachelor of Science degrees in Outdoor and Elementary Education. In 2010, she received her master degree in Science Education. Originally from the Midwest, Mrs. Hager has lived in Oregon since 1985. She has taught 13 years in upper elementary at St. Luke School in Woodburn. In her spare time, she and her husband Nick enjoy traveling, music, reading, hiking, and cooking. They have 2 grown daughters who attended Queen of Peace School. In addition to be teaching close to home and at her home parish, she is delighted to be working with 2nd grade students.

Shannon Mowry received her bachelor’s degree in Communicative Disorders in 2000 from CSULB. She then received her Elementary Teaching Credential in California in 2005. She stayed at home to raise her 6 children while they were young. She then worked as a substitute teacher in Salem Keizer School District for many years. Mrs. Mowry returned as a full-time teacher in 2014 at Myers Elementary. During her time there, she taught 3rd and 4th grades. She is a parishioner of St. Edward Catholic Church in Keizer, has been married since 1998, and has 6 children. She loves: gardening, hiking and spending time with her family.

Lori Martino received her bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Western Oregon University in 1993. She began teaching in 1993, taught for two years then temporarily retired to raise a family, returning to the profession in 2003. During her tenure with the Salem-Keizer school district, she earned her reading endorsement. She has taught kindergarten through sixth grade and has been a reading specialist. She was hired by Queen of Peace Catholic School in 2012. She is a parishioner of St. Edward Catholic Church, has been married since 1992, and has two adult children.

Jean Craig was hired by Queen of Peace School in 1996. She has been teaching since 1988 in the Salem area public and Catholic schools. Jean completed her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education/Mathematics at the University of Portland and her Master’s degree in Technology in Education at Lesley University. She has taught grades four through eight in both elementary and middle school settings. Mrs. Craig loves to cook and eat.
Julie Jeanseau has been with Queen of Peace since 2014. She has her BA in Arts Education from U of O. She has taught in many venues, from community centers in Portland and San Diego to charter schools, to in school residencies. She is also a professional artist and runs an art studio and gallery here in Salem called The Abbey.
When she isn’t teaching she loves to spend time with her three girls, painting, making art, gardening and taking walks at Minto Brown with her husband and family.
Susan Wiley was hired by Queen of Peace School in 2012 to teach music for Pre-K-5th grade. She has been teaching music since 1987 in various school settings. She did her undergraduate work at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho with a degree in Music Education. In 1991, she received her Master’s Degree in Music Education from Western Oregon University. She has taught all grade levels of music from Pre-K-12th grade. Mrs. Wiley can be found at many different types of music concerts and live musical theater shows all around Oregon.

Mark Martinmaas has taught at Queen of Peace School for 19 years. Mark holds a bachelor’s and master’s in education, both acquired from Western Oregon University with a certificate in physical education. He has been a teacher for 20 years. Mark’s experience away from the classroom consists of being an Athletic Director for two years with the Catholic Youth Organization and 11 years umpiring high school baseball. Mark has coached basketball, volleyball, soccer, kids relays and roller hockey. Mr. M loves sports!

Mrs. Curran works individually and in small groups with students, placing an emphasis on reading recovery, language arts and mathematics. Prior to joining the Queen of Peace staff in 2018, she worked for the Salem-Keizer School District as a Reading Teacher and taught first and fourth grades for the Archdiocese of Portland and in Philadelphia. Mrs. Curran earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Elementary Education from Immaculata University in Pennsylvania. She has a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration. Mrs. Curran enjoys reading and gardening and loves spending time with her husband Pat and 2 daughters, Samantha and Megan. She is a parishioner of St. Edward Catholic Church.

Miranda Melton, AKA “Miss Mandy” graduated from Western Oregon University in 2008 with her BA in Health Promotion and Human Biology, and earned her Master’s in Counseling from Corban University in 2016. She has worked with kids and teens in a variety of settings from, coaching high school soccer & tennis to volunteering in the Elementary dorms at the Oregon School for the Deaf. While attending college she spent summers working at The Painted Turtle, one of Paul Newman’s cost-free camps for chronically and terminally ill children in Lake Hughes California, where she held a variety of roles. After graduating she was hired as the Painted Turtle’s Hospital Outreach Coordinator, where she created and ran camp programs for children of all ages and with a myriad of diagnosis in hospitals such as UCLA, USC, Shriner’s, Cedars Sinai, CHLA, etc. Basically she spent nearly a decade frolicking about in crazy headbands and costumes, sharing the joy and excitement of camp with amazingly deserving and awesome kids and their families, and it was glorious!
